My Story:
From Sunshine to Showstoppers
Ten years ago, I landed in the UK fresh from sunny Mexico, and believe me, I was not prepared. I swapped sandals for soggy socks, sunshine for sideways rain, and let’s not even talk about the coat situation.
But beyond the wardrobe meltdown, it was a total culture shock.
Back home, I had a career in B2B marketing, ran my own businesses, had my network, my family, my friends. I was someone. And suddenly, here I was; in a new country, a new language, and a very different version of myself.
I couldn’t quite find my feet (or my voice).
My dream? Oh, it was there, quietly waiting in the wings.
But first, reality came knocking, and it wanted rent.
So, I got a job as a waitress at a fancy events company. I served canapés and champagne with a smile, while inside I was thinking,
What am I doing with my life?
I wore many hats after that, from admin jobs to event roles, desperately looking for something, maybe even myself.
Then, I struck gold. I landed a job at a Bristol start-up called Science Creates, and for the first time, someone took a chance on me.
They believed in me. And finally, I believed in me too.
I rolled up my sleeves and ran nearly 300 events from scratch, everything from intimate networking nights to full-blown conferences.
I loved it.
But that little spark, the dream I tucked away years ago, kept flickering.
One random day, I walked into an open day at Bristol City College for a floristry course; just to add another string to my chaotic bow.
First thing the tutor, Victoria, said was: “This isn’t a hobby course.
This is for people who want to start a business.”
Boom. Like a slap of clarity. I signed up on the spot.
Fast-forward a little: one lightbulb moment, a lot of late-night planning, saving every penny, and finally handing in my notice.
Felisa Flowers and Events was born — a mash-up of everything I love: creativity, organisation, beauty, and above all, people.
I hold degrees in Marketing and Business, a diploma in Event Management, and I have a professional qualification in Floristry.
And now, I'm here, creating stunning events and floral designs that tell stories, spark joy, and celebrate life.
This is more than a job. It’s a dream, a journey, and a blooming big adventure.
